About us

We moved  from Bellville near Cape Town, where we ran an up-market self catering guest house called 'Adel Haus' to this little southern Freestate town on the northern banks of the ¡Xhariep or Gariep Dam (previously known as the Hendrik Verwoerd Dam), called Bethulie, in early October 2007.

Here in Bethulie we bought and renovated a four bedroom house with a large backyard. We then decided to do something similar to what we did in Bellville, but at the same time also completely different.

As the house was to big for the two of us, we decided to share it with other like minded people. Hence we started Bethulie BikePackers, which offers self-catering accommodation, based on the familiar and famous Backpacker principle, but ours is aimed mainly at motorcyclists as we were members of the Western Cape biking community for a number of years and know that bikers are not welcome at many places they go to.

We then bought another four bedroom house with an even bigger backyard also here in Bethulie. We ran it as a Coffee shop, Ou Vellies Koffi-Inn for two years until ill health forced us to close the coffee shop.  We then decided to move the original Bethulie BikePakers from 37 Grey Street to its current location at 56 Joubert Street.

We therefore invite and want to welcome you here with us in Bethulie.

Remember: We are not Biker tolerant just for your money, we are actualy Biker Friendly
